16 Brighton St. Petersham
We lived at three different locations in Petersham. The first place we lived was a tiny one-bedroom apartment above a hairdressing studio on Christal Street, mum used to complain about the heat, that would come up from the hairdresser below. (Heat would rise to our tiny apartment, whenever the hairdresser used the large hair dryers. the next place I remember living was directly across the road on the corner of Douglas St, and Christal Street, in a classic, old redbrick apartment building. (That is still standing today) the three of us boys lived here with my mother and her new man Bill.
I don’t know how my mother met Bill, he just seemed to appear in our lives. Garry and I attended two different primary Schools while living in Petersham, the first was Stanmore Primary School, when we lived in the red brick building on Douglas St, and the 2nd was Petersham Primary School, when we moved just 3 min (240 m) walk down the road to 16 Brighton Street Petersham. 16 Brighton was a historical (shopfront building) made up of small apartments.
